| KynolTM novoloid fibers, invented at The Carborundum Company (Niagara Falls, NY) in 1968, are high-performance phenolic fibers with outstanding inherent flame and chemical resistance. The only novoloid fibers currently on the market, they also serve as precursors for a series of highly heat- and chemical resistant carbon fiber and textile products, and a companion series of activated carbon fiber materials with unparalleled sorptive and handling properties.
Commercial production and development of KynolTM fibers have been carried out in Japan since 1972. Gun-ei Chemical Industry Co., Ltd. (Takasaki, Japan), the manufacturer of the fiber, is one of the world's top producers of phenolic resins. Nippon Kynol, Inc. (Osaka, Japan) serves as Gun-ei's exclusive world-wide marketing and distribution agent for KynolTM novoloid fibers, and in addition offers its own complete line of KynolTM products manufactured from these unique fibers, including rovings, yarns, felts, fabrics, and papers, as well as KynolTM novoloid-based carbon and activated carbon products. American Kynol, Inc. (Pleasantville, NY) is Nippon Kynol's subsidiary and sole agent for the Americas. Kynol Europa GmbH (Hamburg, Germany), the third member of the Kynol sales group, is sole agent for Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. |
